Mother’s Day Celebration 2025
Our annual Mother’s Day event is one of our favorite moments each year, and this year was no exception. Moms and their kids are the groups within the community who we work most closely with, so we planned a special day for the 80+ moms of our 110 tutoring kids. The biggest highlight was a powerful message brought by a local Pastor, encouraging and challenging these moms in their important role, and closing with a powerful prayer over the families.
As has become tradition, the students from a local private high school donated food bags to each and every one of the moms, as part of their senior social service requirement. We are so thankful for this blessing, and for the 8 students who attended the event to deliver the bags in person!
One thing that stood out as we celebrated with the moms was the large number of grandmothers in attendance, standing in for absent moms. Some taken by addiction, others by violence, others by their own choosing to simply walk away. The situations are heartbreaking and the brokenness is very evident, but praise God for these brave women stepping in to love and care for these children who desperately need them.
