Every Child Matters

The children who come through our doors come from all different backgrounds. Some face difficult circumstances, and some hear messages every day that make them question their worth or what they are capable of.

But every child we serve has needs—and they also have strengths, dreams, talents, personalities, and enormous potential.

This month, Prof. Heydi has been leading lessons focused on self-esteem, reminding each child that they are valuable, capable, and uniquely created with incredible gifts and potential. Our goal isn’t simply to respond to what’s missing, but to help each child recognize what is already there—and give them the support and opportunities they need to grow.

A child who needs academic support can also be a future teacher. A student who struggles in school can also be incredibly determined. A young person who has faced difficult circumstances can still have big dreams for their future.

Sometimes, one encouraging voice can begin to replace years of discouraging ones. We want our students to know that their circumstances do not define their potential—and to believe that there is so much more ahead of them.
